As with last year the breakfasts and restaurants are lovely as is the service. In the main, the staff are all very helpful and pleasant. This year however, we had a toddler in the room next to us so we were woken on the last 6 days around 6am which wasn’t very good as we were on holiday. Last year we had no disturbances from other rooms at all. The mother used to do lots of washing up in the sink between 06.30-07.00 which was very noisy at that time of the morning at a stainless steel sink and draining board! I did speak to a member of staff in Guest Relations after 3 early starts and said we had thought about asking to be moved but decided we could end up with another family that were even noisier so decided to sit it out for our last 3 days. It didn’t leave us with as good a feeling as our previous holiday last year at this hotel. Despite being told the hotel was full, we were not convinced it was. We heard very little of closing doors either in the late evenings or in the morning in our corridor which is usual in a fully occupied hotel.

Fabulous hotel with beautiful decor in both public areas and the room and spectacular location on the sea. Wonderful outdoor area with pools and lovely gardens. The interior design was especially nice, with a feeling of intimacy in many areas, which is difficult to achieve in a large hotel. Plenty of things put on with live music, pilates, yoga etc. Excellent facilities including library, panel court, gym, indoor swimming pool and the staff were unfailing courteous, pleasant and made a fabulous hotel exceptional.

buffet breakfast had a wide selection to put on ones plate. all of a high quality. a walk into Funchal town is 15 mins or so, a taxi is around 5 euro. views were outstanding from our room and the sound of the sea lulled us to sleep. The staff very friendly as were all locals we encountered. Numerous restaurants close by for those looking for more choice than that the hotel offers. we will certainly be returning and are kicking ourselves for not finding this hotel earlier.

Good location in a quiet part of Funchal next to the sea. The breakfast was a fairly standard large hotel offering - I've had better, but there was enough to choose from. The room was spacious, with a lounge beyond the bedroom and a balcony outside. We enjoyed being able to eat outside, both for breakfast and dinner, as it was warm enough in May to do so. There were cooking facilities in the kitchenette next to the lounge, should you need them.

Deborah

Superb location with direct access to the sea - (however there is no beach but rock-set steps to the water ). There is a huge sun-lounging terrace with plenty of sun-beds . Hotel was originally a time share apartment building which has been converted to a hotel . The suite rooms have a separate kitchen and there is room service available so private dining on the terrace is a very pleasant availability .
